Written by Julie Be and Miles Crabtree, Philly-based trans and nonbinary music therapists, Rainbow Seekers joyfully invites all children to explore identity and self-expression, while specifically uplifting trans and queer families.

In the midst of increasingly prevalent anti-trans legislation and violence, Rainbow Seekers is an affirming celebration of queer families. The album introduces listeners to gender-expansiveness with humor and harmony, while offering universal messages of belonging for all children.

“A shiny, shimmery celebration of and for queer families…This one-of-a-kind glittery dance party is essential listening for all families.” — Veronica Schwartz De Fazio, Kids Rhythm and Rock / School Library Journal

“How lucky we are to have such joyful music with which we might celebrate our trans lives. Thank you, dear Ants, for the toe-tapping, head bobbing laughter and giggles and great big grins.”

PICK IT UP (2024)

Oh no! What do you do when your favorite park is littered with garbage?! Why, you “Pick it up, and put it in the trash” of course! (Or, “hold on to it” to recycle later).

While policy change and corporate responsibility are paramount, those changes are slow! In the meantime, it is crucial that young people feel empowered to act locally – starting in their own backyards and favorite parks. As kids experience increasing rates of eco-anxiety, this song reminds young people of their own agency in their communities.

HAD TO STAND UP (2021)

How do we teach kids, and white kids especially, to stand up when they witness racism? Can noticing feelings in our bodies help us take action?

"HAD TO STAND UP" is an anti-racist resource for teachers and parents: a FREE song and discussion guide for elementary ages by Julie Be of Ants on a Log and Mara Sapon-Shevin, anti-racist educator and Professor of Inclusive Education at Syracuse Univ.

ZOMBIE IN MY HEAD (2022)

“Zombie in My Head” is a creative collaboration from Brittany Parker and Mélissa Smith (of Bee Parks and the Hornets) and Julie Be (of Ants on a Log). Using zombies as a metaphor for anxiety, the upbeat song offers strategies for children coping with intrusive thoughts and negative self-talk.

The lyrics help children (and adults!) learn to label their negative self-talk, grow an awareness of when it’s happening, and incorporate positive self-talk. The song originated from research on real-life zombie ants, whose brains are taken over by an intrusive parasitic fungus -- much like the intrusive thoughts that can overtake a human's mind. Recommended for elementary and early middle school ages, the fun and upbeat song offers memorable phrases and catchy melodies which will enhance any child's emotional skills toolbox.

DOG OF MY DREAMS (2020)

That’s loooove! Do you remember your first bike ride? How about the crunch of your first pickle? Love comes in many forms, from the feeling of the wind rushing past your ears as you cruise around on two wheels, to the joy of running along the beach next to the Dog of your Dreams!
